Otha People’s Art (that I LOVE) 5: The ETSY Edition

Hello hello! Happy Tuesday to You!

I have some good news and some bad news….

Well, it’s not really that bad, just a little annoying. If you’ve been following along recently, you know that I recently wrote about how excited I was to be working with some Jet. Well, that “Jet” arrived yesterday from Hong Kong, and it was a disappointment to say the least. I’m going to be returning it today :(

That said, they’ll be no upcoming Jet pieces made by Me in the near future. Off to the old drawing board!

If you've been following my Blog, you know that I really like bones, especially the aesthetic and symbolism of vertebraes. This amazing Vertebrae Canister was created by Laura C. Hewitt and is available on her Etsy Store INAE Enterprises. I featured it on my My Vicious Valentine Treasury:

By that I also mean back to drawing stuff out and/or altering existing 2D designs as it’s still too cold for me to do anything in the sunporch studio despite it being enclosed and with the assistance of space heaters.

My good news is that over the past few days, my shop views have steadily increased at my Etsy shop. In fact, I keep beating my own record of views!

I’m spending a lot of time on Etsy, learning the ropes and checking out so much fantastic work in the process.

I am absolutely in LOVE with these Porcelain Rabbit Sculptures by Ariel Bowman, via her Etsy Shop Porcelain Menagerie! I think that I will have to purchase a pair in the near future....I featured this Rabbit on my That Feel Too Treasury:

Etsy gives its members a really fun and unique option to build public “Treasury Boards” that can even be featured on the front page of Etsy. The Curator can make just about any theme or combinations of, from colour to function to just plain silliness, and that theme can be searched by shoppers to aid them in selecting gifts, finding the right coloured accessory or researching the prices of similar items. It’s pretty cool and it’s a win-win situation for everyone involved with Etsy.

This charming and whimsical Rabbit Ring was created by Tessa E. Rickard and is available on Etsy vi aher store, Doll Disaster Design. I featured this piece on my Aspects Of Alice Treasury, whic of course pertains to Alice in Wonderland:

You already know that I’m a highly visual “arteest” with a love of design and beautiful objects so I’m confessedly addicted to creating Treasuries featuring some of my very favourite Handmade and Vintage pieces that I’ve stumbled across on my Etsy adventures. Check out some of the Treasuries that I’ve created–I think that you’ll find them very inspirational and you might just find something you’ll wonder how you’ve survived this long without :)

Aren't these Porcelain Cups by Natalia Gruszecka to die for?! Since I'm such a tea drinker and will obviously put them to great use (lol) they're on my personal wishlist :) They're available on Etsy at ENDEsign and are featured on my Treasury That Feel:

Of course who would I be without doing a Memento Mori Treasury? I found these Crochet Skulls, made by an Anonymous NYC Librarian to be divine! They're available on Etsy at Dewey Decimal Crafts, and are of course featured on my Modern Memento Mori Treasury:

And of course, remember that I sell on Etsy too :)

About admin

I make stuff. I collect stuff. I study stuff. I'm a bit of a technophobe, but I kinda have always enjoyed writing, so here I am, walking contradiction that I am. That's it in a nutshell. For those of you who are interested in the brains behind the operation, I studied Sculpture and Installation at the Ontario College of Art and Design, which lead to an interest (and some might say a career choice) in jewellery and jewellery design, ergo the pursuit of my GG from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). I'm about half way completed my studies and it's amazing! I also paint, draw and do free-lance illustration--check out my stuff at www.flikr.com/photo/carolinebacher. While I'm a big supporter of holistic healing and sustainable and organic farming, I also adore high-end design, fashion, dining out, and even the occasional meat-fest and bottle of vino accompanied by *gasp* a ciggie. See, I told you that I'm a walking contradiction! But in my humble opinion, the most interesting people are!
